H.R.H. Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Sultan of Selangor, officiates Setia City Mall opening.


SHAH ALAM: After starting construction in 2009, Setia City Mall was officially opened by H.R.H. Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Sultan of Selangor today at a ceremony in the new mall’s Centre Court. Located in Setia Alam, Shah Alam, the new retail destination offers a fresh and exciting shopping experience for families in the Klang Valley by combining leading retailers such as Parkson, Golden Screen Cinemas, Urbanfresh, Harvey Norman, Fitness First and Courts with 10.5 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland.

S P Setia’s President and CEO, Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, said: “We are extremely proud of this new chapter in S P Setia’s flagship township of Setia Alam. As part of Setia City, which will be the green commercial hub of Setia Alam, the mall reaffirms the Group’s commitment to value creation and promoting sustainability in all our developments.”

In the lead up to the grand opening, Setia City Mall has been giving away weekly prize packs, which culminated in a RM25,000 shopping spree at the mall, which was awarded to Ms Wong Yean Lin from Setia Eco Park. In addition, shoppers and residents of Setia Alam were given tickets to see Michael Learns to Rock from Denmark, who are performing in the Setia Alam town park on the evening of the grand launch.

The new mall embraces a mantra of great times inside and out, which is delivered through four key areas of shopping, dining, entertainment and parklife. The retail element of the mall includes over 230 local and international retailers, which are 99% leased at opening. The parklife element is made up of a waterjet plaza, engaging children’s play facilitates and an alfresco dining precinct that connects the mall to the park.  

Setia City Mall is an environmentally responsible place to shop, having achieved the first Malaysian Green Building Index accreditation for a shopping mall, with a provisional Silver Certification. The mall has also provisionally achieved Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Gold Award, the first mall in Malaysia to receive such an accolade.
